As a resort focused on health and wellness for our members and guests, GGRC was looking for ways to extend the same level of wellness program options to their employees. The Garden of the Gods Resort and Club (GGRC) and affiliated companies have been employing the C3 Captive model for years. The result? While other companies have been dealing with double digit increases in health care costs and premiums, passing those increases along to their employees and customers, GGRC has enjoyed several consecutive years of approximately 2.0% year-over-year increase in healthcare costs across the board. Not only has this led to better outcomes while controlling costs, it has also enabled us to add additional benefits. In our current high-cost inflationary healthcare market, the results that GGRC has enjoyed are testament to a concept that truly works.

C3 first and foremost has a large nationwide network utilizing the FirstHealth network.  Employees across the country will have a wide range of provider and facility options.  While we have a preferred contract with UCHealth facilities and providers, members do have a choice of providers they can use with the nationwide FirstHealth network.  We will continue to do direct contacts with providers across the country to drive better outcomes and more savings.  Members are encouraged to use HealthCare Bluebook to compare the various costs of all the network providers and by doing so will be incentivized financially.

The biggest thing the captive model does is make you the owner of the health plan.  Instead of a major corporation or shareholders profiting when claims run well, you as the employer are who benefits and has the potential to receive some money back.

The captive is a multi-year strategy so in order to capitalize on the lowered claims risk as well as the added benefits of enhanced coverage.  To fully see the benefits of the health plan, groups will want to commit to several years in this model.  With that, there is no contract and groups can leave if they choose.

While it is not required it is highly encouraged for employers to make wellness plan participation required for their employees.  An actively engaged workforce allows them to tap into all the resources this unique plan has to offer while minimizing high claims risk.  By practicing early detection of conditions, we can see better outcomes at a much lower overall cost.  This translates back to highly engaged employees and a lower overall plan spend.
